Lonely Bird

Little lonely bird
Keeps searching through the fog
Wings tired
Little heart weary
She looks for home
Wanting to know what it feels like
Hoping against hope
For guidance
But all she finds is an empty nest
So she looks to the sky
For answers
Takes another deep breath
In readiness
To search some more
Because she is not ready
To surrender to the coldness embracing her
Little lonely bird
Simply won't stop believing
Home is out there
Waiting
Somewhere

Prisoner of Love

Some loves will surprise you
Unexpectedly they become a part of you
And you know not why

You will either embrace it
Or pride will keep you from it
And you know not why

Telling yourself all the reasons you should forget
Waking up and feeling him, missing him
And you know not why

Accepting perceived faults
Breathing becoming deeper as you think of him
And you know not why

Some loves are simply part of you
He was with you before you met
Which is why, you know not why

A prisoner of your heart
Others will try to set you free
But it is only he who holds the key

And you know not why

Oh Love, dear Love

Oh Love, dear Love
I was so young
when we first met
but now, so many years later
I have to ask
Was it really you?

Oh Love, dear Love
you danced with me
in my twenties
but the music stopped
and the lights dimmed
Are you always so fleeting?

Oh Love, dear Love
you placed a ring upon my finger
in my thirties
gave me the gift of life
in a beautiful girl
I see so much of you in her

Oh Love, dear Love
Why did I mistake you
in my forties
for only imposters
Yet now I am wiser
I find you daily within myself

Oh Love, dear Love
you are indeed elusive
within another
What makes you come and go?
Only a traveller in my life
it seems

Oh Love, dear Love
Who are you
that I seek?
Will you ever step from the shadows
into the light of my moon
and walk into eternity with me?

Oh Love, dear Love
no matter how many times
I mistake you for another
I will continue to feel your strength
to trust and to believe
that you are coming home

Mother Nature

As I gaze upon the water
and I wonder what comes next
I think that life is not so bad
compared to many, it would be the best

Troubles come a plenty,
sometimes mounting way too high;
overwhelmed with disappointment and frustration,
exhausted and too tired to even cry

It is so easy for us to forget
the untold blessings at our side;
caught up in daily problems
we feel we're drowning in the devil's tide

Now when this happens, please take the time
to wander back to Mother's arms,
surrender to her beauty and her grace,
absorb her loving charm

She will never leave you
and she will never judge;
she will only ever welcome you,
her steadfast loyalty will never budge

And, if you let her, she will show you the way ...

to truth
to belief
to love ...
and that will be enough

Broken Dreams

I love you,
But you fancy her;
She wants him,
It’s one big bleurg…
of mess

You date me,
I think its love;
I break his heart,
And so begins the tug…
of war

Playing a game
of strategy and conquest,
is ego the victor?
Broken dreams …
left by the side of the road
